The Mt. Vernon Girls Track Team has officially started its season. Preseason is over and official practices and meets are beginning.
On March 7, there was an indoor meet at Indiana Wesleyan University. Athletes from Mt. Vernon competed in the 4×8, 4×4 and 4×2 relays. They also competed in high jump, long jump, pole vault and shot put. These athletes competed in the DMR, or Distance Medley Relay, as well. The DMR is a relay where the first leg runs 1200 meters, the second leg runs 400 meters, the third leg runs 800 meters and the fourth leg runs 1600 meters.
Coach Josh Worth said: “We are so proud of the girls and their performances at this meet. I am excited to see what these girls will do for the outdoor season.”
The Mt. Vernon Girls Track team has more to come.
