I spent Feb. 28 in Terre Haute, where Indiana State University, also known as ISU, is located. I attended ISU’s “Preview Day,” where I got to experience a bit of college life and its offerings. I loved the experience and it made me excited to become a Sycamore this fall.
I arrived on campus around 8:50, and staff at the recreation center told us to sign in. The school set up a nice breakfast there and a ton of booths where I got to meet professors and see the departments that ISU had to offer. Something I learned while conversing with one of the professors of the Department of Communications is that it has a wide variety of writing and journalistic opportunities for students, which intrigued me.
Later on, we were presented with a ton of debriefings on scholarships, dorm life, and food on campus. It was nice to find out how different and independent a college will be at ISU.

We were also able to eat lunch in their cafeteria, which was pretty good. There were a variety of different foods to choose from and try. I talked to one of the chefs, who seemed very passionate about what they do and the cuisine they create. I had a burger and fries, with all sorts of toppings like cheese, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. There were also other offerings like pasta and sandwich stations where students could make their creations.
The campus itself is nice, with cool artwork around it. There is also a unique grass area with a water fountain in the middle, and the insides of the buildings showcase a lot of school spirit.
This is the college I will be attending. I have to say, it was an amazing experience. ISU has everything I look for in a college campus. College life will be a different and maybe even difficult experience, but I believe ISU will show me that it can be enjoyable, chill and a new way to learn.
