Why You Should Dye Your Hair

One of the many things to do during quarantine is dying your hair. I had been asking my mom if I could dye my hair for four years, and during quarantine she finally gave in. In early August, my mom allowed me to color my hair. At first I dyed it blue, but once it faded, I changed it to purple.

A very good reason to dye your hair is if you want a change. Changing your hair color can feel like a fresh start, and the beginning process of dying your hair can feel therapeutic. If you have darker hair, you might want to consider bleaching it so the colors can show up better. When bleaching your hair you need to be careful. Your hair is more likely to get damaged if you use bleach. In extreme cases, the bleach can even cause your hair to fall out. If it is used properly, then the color will show up beautiful and vibrant.

If kids want to dye their hair they will need to go to a professional or have parent assistance. The bleach can be dangerous and harm them, as well as their hair. “When I dyed my hair it didn’t last very long because I wanted to change it every week,” said Makayla Binkley, 11.

Dying your hair is very fun and with the hundreds of colors, you can change your look as often as you’d like. Some people dye their hair because they want to change things up. Others do it after they see someone else dye their hair and take inspiration from them.

“I just dyed my hair to give myself a new start,” said Annie Gendron, 10. “I don’t know if that makes sense, but I did it because I wanted a change.”

There are some reasons to dye your hair, and many people love the results. If  you are overdue for a change, you should consider dying your hair.
