The Mt. Vernon girls’ softball team started their season in late March with a 10-2 win against Scecina Memorial High School. The team has gone 12-2 for the season, only taking losses to Noblesville and New Palestine.

The team is currently ranked 14th in the state and has high hopes for the season.

“I think that it’s gonna be a good season,” said Chloe Yocum, 12. “I have a good feeling about the tournament; one of our goals as a team is winning sectionals this year.”

The state tournament does not begin until late May, but the team is hoping to keep up with a good record for the season, and to make it far in the tournament.

Upcoming games include one on May 13 against Anderson at Anderson High School at 5:30 and a game at New Castle against New Castle on May 15 at 5:30.
