A cappella group performance

On November 9-11, the Mt. Vernon a capella group, Locked Out, got to go to the Kettering A Cappella Festival in Kettering, Ohio.

There were many performances by both high school and professional a cappella groups. Workshops were also available for the students to attend, whether it be as an a cappella group or as an individual with love for the subject.

“It was a fun experience and a great opportunity to meet other people who share the same hobbies as I do,” said Emerson Bridgewater, 11.

The workshops were an opportunity for the a cappella group to learn and grow more as individual singers and as a group.

“I really enjoyed the learning experience of it all, and being able to grow closer to the people in the group,” said Claire McClimon, 12. “Watching other a cappella performances helped give me motivation for our group and where I see our group at.”

The members of Locked Out being able to watch other groups perform was incredible, as it allowed the members to get inspiration from other talented performers.

“I enjoyed all of the amazing singers,” said Charles Livengood, 11. “It was one of the best trips I have had in a long time.”
