The Mt Vernon winter choir concert was on December 12th at 7:00pm.
The winter concert was full of Christmas songs, and it really helped the audience members get into the Christmas spirit.
The MV Singers, the beginning choir, sang, “Carol of the Bells,” “All Night, All Day,” “Santa Claus is Coming to Town,” and “How Good.”
“The concert went really good and smoothly,” said Gage Clore, 10, a member of the MV Singers.
Expressions, the advanced women’s choir, sang “Here Comes Santa,” “How Good,” “Festival Sanctus,” and “All I Want for Christmas.”
Cayla Flowers, an Expressions member, had a solo in the song “All I Want for Christmas.”
She said, “It was very nerve racking to sing the solo for that song because it is one of the most popular Christmas songs, but I heard some wonderful comments from everyone who heard it. The concert went very well and it was one of the best ones yet.”
Center Stage, the advanced mixed choir, sang, “Jubilate Deo,” “Zion’s Walls,” “The 12 Days After Christmas,” and “It’s Beginning to Look Like Christmas.”
Emerson Bridgewater, 10, who is in Center Stage, said, “The concert was great. Memories were made and we sang many interesting songs. It was the best winter concert I have been in.”
The a cappella groups also performed in the concert.
Locked Out, the mixed a capella group, performed, “White Winter Hymnal,” and “Standing Outside the Fire.”
Formation, the all women’s a capella group, sang, “Holly Jolly Christmas,” and “Silent Night.”
The night ended with all of the choirs surrounding the audience and sang, “Peace, Peace” together.
Dakota Fisher, 12, said, “The concert went really well! It was a great final winter concert and I couldn’t have asked for a smoother run. Having Señora Laughlin’s husband on the drums for our group number at the end of the concert was super memorable and I am so thankful for the talent at MV.”
