The class of 2028 are currently sophomores and are wrapping up their final year as underclassmen. For some, this school year was peaceful. They had little to stress about it, and they were able to pass their classes effortlessly.
For me, my sophomore year has definitely been a stressful year. It might be because I tend to overthink things. When the PSAT season happened in the beginning of the year, I was already thinking about the actual SAT, and treating the practice test as seriously as one would take the SAT.
This year also felt like the time I had to settle on a college I wanted to attend. Different colleges have different requirements before even applying. I thought that if I did not choose a dream school now, then it would be too late in junior year to switch my classes to meet the requirements for a different school.
So I choose to set my goals to Michigan University at Ann Arbor. This school heavily suggests that high school students wanting to attend take two years of foreign language study. I took French one freshman year, but took a break from the class this year. Now, I have to take French two this upcoming year, or senior year. Either way it feels like I am sacrificing an important class to take one I should have taken this year.
A class I did enjoy a lot this year was Criminal Justice. I gained much insight into a field I thought I knew about. Due to this class taking half my school day, I never had homework that I needed to take home. I was able to work at my pace and it was because of this I was able to gain three certificates and be a member of the National Technical Honor Society.
This was also the year I first joined the MV tech crew. For the first month, I was back to being anxious and stressed due to balancing a demanding schedule. There were nights I had to force myself to stay awake late to be ahead in my school projects to not be even more stressed. Yet, I would not have in another way.
Sophomore year challenged me in the best way ever, it taught me better management skills and it felt like a trail for junior year.
