The Mt. Vernon Girls’ Track team had an absolutely eventful night on April 22 at the Noblesville Miller Invitational. The girls left for the meet at 4:15 pm, where the field events started at 6:00 pm. The 4×8 went off at 6:30 pm, and the rest of the running events started at 7:05.
The 4×8 which consisted of Lily Quinn, Makenna Laffey, Hannah Hauser and Taylor Greulich ran a time of 9:47.20, which makes their relay time eighth in the state of Indiana. Katherine Simmons won the 400 meter dash with a time of 56.73 seconds. The 4×1 team achieved a school record with a lineup of Makaijah Foulks, Londyn Floyd, Jesalyn Jones and Molly Worth at a finish of 49.01 seconds.
The Marauders ended up placing fourth at the meet with 100 points, only 11 points being third place Homestead, and 61.5 points behind first place Noblesville.
After the meet, Head Coach Lydgia Palmer congratulated the girls. She said, “Great job tonight girls. We got fourth place, fourth among the best of the best teams. You guys hung in there, and we had wonderful performances tonight. We have a lot of season left, and you guys are doing amazing so far.”
The next home meet for the Marauders is on May 12. That day is the Hoosier Heritage Conference meet.
