The debate between over-the-ear headphones and Airpods has been going on since the first Airpods were announced in 2016. Early on in Airpod production, they were ridiculed for being so small and so expensive. People viewed them as easy to lose and worthless. Over the years, however, Airpods have begun to get extremely popular for their travel convenience and their small size.
Over the ear headphones are beneficial for long periods of time, such as sitting at home or working in the office. They offer very good noise cancellation and immersive listening. Over-the-ear headphones also offer a longer battery life and are typically more comfortable than wearing Airpods.
On the other hand, Airpods are easier to travel with and can be worn literally anywhere. They rest inside of the ear and out of sight, plus they are smaller so they are more portable. Airpods also offer other features such as “Find My” for when they get lost. They are compact, lightweight and have convenient charging cases.
Both Airpods and headphones have their own benefits. They both provide excellent noise cancellation and immersive listening. One is not better than the other, as they both solve different issues in their own ways. Airpods are better for traveling and transparent listening, while headphones provide deeper listening and create a better seal for noise cancellation.
The preference of Airpods or headphones depends on the type of person wearing them.
