Concerns over glyphosate in food and water supplies continue to grow as people on the internet begin to suspect the chemical could be linked to higher cancer rates. Glyphosate has been linked to higher rates of cancer than the national average, especially in Midwestern states. This is often due to the fact that glyphosate is found in most pesticides, which in turn are used on farmland to regulate pests.
The World Health Organization also classified glyphosate as a possible carcinogen to humans in 2015. Glyphosate can be linked to a particular strain of cancer known as non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
However, despite worries from the American people on the internet, President Trump has issued an executive order declaring glyphosate important for the country’s national security. He has also encouraged the increased production of the chemical, which will support the company Bayer that produces glyphosate.
