There are quite a few record stores that operate within the Indianapolis area, but three of the most prominent ones are Karma Records, Indy CD and Vinyl and Luna Music. Karma Records is one of the last of its kind and located on the east side of Indianapolis on Post Road. Both Indy CD and Vinyl and Luna Music are on the far northside of Indianapolis in the Broad Ripple area.
Karma Records is one of the few surviving Karma stores left. The store is owned and run by friendly and knowledgeable twin brothers, Sean and Ricky. Their selection is expansive and accommodating for any kind of music fan, even featuring a large selection of CDs, which can be rare considering vinyl records are the current hot commodity. There is no expense spared when it comes to the vinyl selection either, as Karma records features a wide variety of records, along with some of the used and soundtrack variety.
The prices are also extremely affordable and reasonable, so the store is extremely accessible to anyone who wants to pick up some new music, but does not want to break their bank. With an extremely friendly and laid-back atmosphere accompanying the amazing selection, Karma Records easily stands out as one of the best locations in the area.
Indy CD and Vinyl also holds an expansive, and very well organized selection of both CDs and vinyl records. This store has taken part in some big expansion recently as well, now featuring a stage area where live shows are held regularly. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, making for a very comfortable environment for anyone who comes in. Indy CD and Vinyl is possibly one of the most exciting record stores in the area as it continues to grow and evolve.
Not very far from Indy CD and Vinyl, Luna Music is tucked away right outside of downtown Broad Ripple. It features a very cozy and unique atmosphere, which sets it apart from any alternatives. On nice days, the door is almost always open, adding a very open and gentle feeling to the store, and this feeling is elevated by its always friendly and helpful staff. For anyone who is mostly interested in vinyl, Luna Music is undoubtedly the best option, and features a large variety of records. Along with the record section being very large, it is also very inclusive and features many harder to find records and artists while still maintaining the basics.
These record stores are some of the best in the area, and easily stand out from any alternatives or competitors. Each and every one is more than worth at least a visit.
