When picking out a car to buy, it is important to choose one that is reliable, and that will last. However, with so many brands and models to choose from, deciding can be hard. So which brand should buyers choose?
According to the predicted reliability scale, Toyota, Subaru and Lexus are the top three most reliable car brands. Toyota scored the highest at 66 out of 100, while Rivian scored the lowest at 24 out of 100. The scale rates the reliability of each brand based on the average problem rates of at least two models from each brand made within 2023-2025.
If maintained properly, most cars can last around 150 to 200 thousand miles without major repairs. Though, without proper maintenance, any car can experience problems no matter the brand. All three top brands have been known to surpass 200,000, and sometimes even 300,000 miles with only routine maintenance.
Though, just because the brands are known for their reliability that does not mean that they do not have their own problems. Toyota vehicles commonly experience suspension problems, oil leaks and break wear at high mileage. Subaru vehicles commonly experience oil leaks, oil overconsumption and CVT Transmission failure. Lexus vehicles experience oil or water leaks and partial suspension failure.
Overall, Toyota, Subaru and Lexus vehicles are the most known for their reliability when taken care of. Due to their increased life span, they should definitely be considered as options when buying a new vehicle.
