“Abbott Elementary” is a sitcom about a group of teachers at a public elementary school in Philadelphia. The main teachers are Janine Teagues, Gregory Eddie, Barbara Howard and Melissa Schemmenti. The principal, Ava Coleman, and the janitor, Mr. Johnson, are also a part of the main group. “Abbott Elementary” can be found on streaming platforms like Disney+ and HBO MAX. There are five seasons, with the latest one coming out in October 2025.
I watched “Abbott Elementary” and I loved it. The plot is really easy to follow and is pretty unique. The overarching plot of “Abbott Elementary” is about a group of dedicated teachers doing their best at an underfunded elementary school. Each episode gives insight to the struggles they face and more information about each character.
As the story progresses, more and more of each character’s backstory is revealed. I loved how it was written. I feel like too many current series are badly written and seem rushed. I do not feel this way with “Abbott Elementary.” Each episode feels connected to the last and helps paint a picture.
I feel like the actors are perfectly cast. Unlike some shows I watched, I do not feel as though some people were only cast because of their fame. In the cast there is not really anyone that is more famous than another. Arguably Quinta Brunson, known in the show as Janine Teagues, and Tyler Hamer Williams, known in the show as Gregory Eddie are the most famous..
I love how the costumes were designed. I feel like they were chosen with the characters fully in mind. The outfits do correspond with the ages of the characters. For example, Barbara Howard is implied to be in her 60s. She typically wears a shirt, a cardigan over top, a chunky pearl necklace and a lanyard that holds her phone. This goes with her character and makes sense because she is very old school.
Overall, “Abbott Elementary” is a very great show. I highly recommend it, especially for anyone who wants to binge watch a show.
