Recently there has been a lot of media coverage on U.S. Immigrants and Customs Enforcement, and the acts they are committing. There are many controversies surrounding ICE’s actions. One of the most recent and major controversies is the death of Renee Nicole Good.
Good, a white American citizen, was shot and killed on January 7. Good was in her car with her wife on the morning of her death, when the couple got into a debate with ICE officer Jonathan Ross. The topic of the debate was about the Trump Administration and how they were going about deporting thousands of people.
Based on video footage, Ross was getting angry, and Good decided to drive away, removing herself from the conversation. Unfortunately, while Good was attempting to leave, Ross fired his gun three times and killed her.
There are multiple videos showing different angles of the incident. Ross and supporters of ICE claim Good was trying to run Ross over. Many on the other side cite the position of her steering wheel, positive conversation with Ross, and her lack of speed as proof she was simply trying to leave the conflict.
While this is a tragic story, this is just one of the controversial situations ICE has been involved in recent months. ICE has been targeting immigrants and people of color since late 2025, and now they appear to be targeting protestors too.
According to CNN, ICE has been deporting people regardless of legal status in the United States.
