The interviews for the new “Wicked: For Good” movie have brought much attention to the star actors’ physique. It is important to note that bringing up anyone’s physique, whether they are Hollywood superstars or not, brings more harm than good.
Ozempic is a miracle weight loss drug popularized in 2020 that reduces a person’s appetite in order to assist with weight loss. This drug has done wonders in addressing the obesity epidemic in America, but at what point does it become for-profit as opposed to “For Good?”
Many online are theorizing that the American pharmaceutical industry had some hand in advocating for the Wicked cast to use their product in hopes that the beauty standards would change and the demand in the American market for their weight loss products would rise. While it might sound a little crazy, these online conspiracy theorists may have a point.
The economics of this situation are important. The pharmaceutical wing of the stock market has been getting more and more inflated with the hopes of turning the actual drug behind Ozempic into a pill as opposed to its usual shot format, the conspiracy theorists have more than enough reason to further their advertising to assure their products they have invested so many resources in succeeds.
The theory that pharma and “Wicked” are connected could also be the result of overthinking. The weight loss may as well be the result of the stress that each of the actors had put on them by having such crucial roles in a big film, but the fact that most of the star actors in Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, Jeff Goldbloum, and Michelle Yeoh had a major weight loss transformation is a little eye-catching.
For clarification, this conspiracy is about the promotional material for the movie. There are noticeable weight changes in both Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo from the time filming wrapped to the time the pre-release promotional content started releasing. There are concerns that children will look up to the stars and try to imitate this same extreme weight loss.
