On October 27, 2023, the first “Five Nights at Freddy’s” movie came out. FNAF is a popular game franchise created by Scott Cawthon. In the game, the player is a nightguard keeping watch over a haunted pizzeria. The office the player stays in is not secure, and they have to fend off the oncoming, violent animatronics. There are 12 main games in the franchise, which is what inspired the movies.
Due to popular demand and based on how many views the first movie got, Blumhouse Productions and Scott Cawthon came together once more to produce the second “Five Nights at Freddy’s” movie.
The first movie was a large success, and grossed an estimated $291 million, ranking it the highest-grossed movie Blumhouse had produced. Thanks to this success, producers and fans were eager to have another movie. The second FNAF movie was released on December 5.
The second movie is based around the second FNAF game, which consists of the main animatronics, Toy Freddy, Toy Chica, Toy Bonnie, the Marionette, and Toy Foxy, better known as Mangle. The movie centers around main character Mike Schmidt and his little sister Abby.
Abby is one of the more sympathetic characters of the movies, as she believes that the animatronics are her friends and that she can help them. The movie centers around her trying to reconnect with these animatronics while also putting herself and her brother in danger. Abby’s curiosity and determination to make peace with these robots ultimately leads to her and Mike discovering and digging up the true past about the pizzeria.
I watched the movie on December 7, and thought it was decent. The writing for the movie could have definitely been improved. Several scenes were particularly corny, and the movie had an overall childish essence to it.
However, the animatronics in the movie looked amazing. The producers captured each feature perfectly. The actors in the movie were phenomenal as well. Mike and Abby played their roles perfectly.
Even though the movie wasn’t a cinematic masterpiece, it was still a good watch and I, as a fan of the games, still had a good time watching it.
