As the weather gets colder and Christmas time comes around, it is widely encouraged to snuggle up with some hot chocolate and watch Christmas movies. There are so many Christmas movies to pick from. Plus, these movies can be found on many different platforms.
One of my personal all-time favorites has to be “Home Alone.” This movie focuses on main character Kevin McCalister who has been accidentally left home alone while his large family leaves to go on Christmas vacation. Kevin gets in trouble the night before, and they forget to bring him. For the next few nights, Kevin has to navigate on his own despite only being eight. On one of his nights, he overhears two men discussing how they planned to break into his house. Kevin is forced to put up traps to prevent them from stealing. The movie is a good comedy and can be watched on Disney+, Amazon Prime (with subscription) and Apple Tv.
Another amazing Christmas movie is “The Santa Claus.” This movie is also a comedy, and follows Scott Calvin through his transition into becoming the new Santa Clause. Scott accidentally kills Santa, and as a punishment, he has to take over. Scott has to learn to navigate life at the North Pole, and deal with the changes to his body. Scott Calvin is also trying to find ways to spend time with his son, because his ex wife wants full custody. With so much going on, this movie is a chaotic comedy and always a good watch. “The Santa Claus” is streamed on websites such as Disney+, Youtube and Fandango.
“A Christmas Story” is also such an amazing movie. It centers around young Ralphie Parker and takes place in the 1940’s. This story is a chaotic masterpiece. Ralphie’s entire goal the whole movie is to get the new red rider BB gun for Christmas. His parents kept warning him that he’ll shoot his eye out and hurt himself. The movie continues on to a disastrous dinner party where chaos erupts. The family also receives a “major award” and opens a box titled “fragile.” Inside is a lamp in the shape of a woman’s leg. Mr. Parker, Ralphie’s dad, becomes utterly obsessed with it. This movie is incredibly funny and can be watched on Hulu and Amazon Prime Video.
These movies are just three out of many frequently mentioned Christmas movies according to YouGov.com. This Christmas season is a great time to hang out with family and watch popular movies. “Home Alone” and “The Santa Claus” are “A Christmas Story” are just a few movies out of so many that are great watches.
