On a cool November afternoon in Louisville, a UPS plane tragically crashed to the ground. The plane was departing from Muhammad Ali International Airport on November 4, 2025 and was supposed to land in Honolulu, Hawaii. Unfortunately, 12 people have been confirmed dead, and there may be more.
Upon takeoff, UPS Flight 2976’s left engine fell off the wing and onto the ground. The plane struggled to make it back to the ground safely, and it eventually crashed. The plane created a huge explosion upon impact.
As a result of the explosion, life in the Louisville area was greatly affected. JCPS schools were canceled for the day, as the air was too toxic for kids. Some people were excused from work for the same reason.
The investigation into the crash was started on November 4, 2025. As of December 12, the investigation is ongoing. While the on-site investigation has ended, the investigation into the plane and people is far from over.
So far, the investigators have found the black boxes belonging to the plane. The investigators are examining the plane, to pinpoint exactly why and how the plane crashed.
