Phoebe Lucille Bridgers was born on August 17, 1994, in Pasadena, California. She was raised by her mother, Jamie Bridgers, and her brother, Jackson Bridgers. Bridgers graduated from Los Angeles County High School for the Arts. She was accepted into Berklee College of Music, but dropped out after her orientation day.
The first band that she was ever in was named Sloppy Jane. She then released her debut album in 2017, entitled “Stranger in the Alps.”
On October 26, 2018, Bridgers collaborated with Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus and formed the band Boygenius. They released their first EP self entitled “Boygenius.” Boygenius is a very popular band as they have over 3.1 million listeners every month.
Bridgers then went to create another band named Better Oblivion Community Center with Conor Oberst. BOCC came out with just one album while they were a band. This album is 1 hr and 40 minutes long and has 10 tracks.
Then, in 2020, Bridgers released the album “Punisher.” Bridgers released this during the height of COVID, when many artists did not release their music. “Punisher” has over a billion listens which can sort of tell how much people liked it. She had been working on the album for a year and a half so she was actually able to put emotion into it.
Finally, in 2023, Bridgers reunited with Boygenius to make the album entitled “The Record.” After this, Boygenius announced its hiatus until further notice. Bridgers has not come out with any new music since this happened.
