MV Pumpkin Decorating Contest

This is the table outside of the cafeteria, displaying all of the decorated pumpkins.

Mt. Vernon’s VOICE club is dedicated to educating and advocating for students about tobacco and the risks that it poses.

These are pumpkins decorated by VOICE, BC2M, Front Office and ASL Club.

Every year during Red Ribbon Week from October 23-31, MV VOICE asks SRT teachers and classes to participate in their annual pumpkin decorating contests. This year they were asked to decorate a pumpkin with a design of their own choice that promoted and educated people about the harmful effects of drugs, alcohol and tobacco and advocated for prevention in schools. 

This year, contestants got creative and decorated their pumpkins, ideas ranging from Pinocchio to Lebron James.

These are pumpkins decorated by the Student Government, Prom Committee, Chinese II SRT and Yearbook.

The winner was announced the week after the competition, with the MV Spanish Club winning a pizza party for their Dia de Los Muertos themed pumpkin.

Hi! My name is Liz and I am a writer/photographer for the MV Current. I have been at Mt. Vernon since 7th grade and joined the newspaper my sophomore year. I enjoy writing, but my passion is photography. I love sports photography, and do my best to attend a wide variety of sports.
