Twenty One Pilots’ new album, “Breach,” dropped on September 12, 2025. It is already their biggest release yet, with over 200 million streams so far.
The band blends grunge-rock and hip-hop in the classic Twenty One Pilots style fans know and love, but this time they push it even further with some of their boldest sounds yet. Every track brings powerful lyrics and a mix of high-energy and mellow moments, making the whole album feel like a journey from start to finish.
I saw Twenty One Pilots live on the Breach Tour less than a week after the album came out, and even though I barely knew some of the newer songs, the concert was incredible. They played a good amount of older songs that I was more familiar with, while still promoting “Breach” and introducing the crowd to some of their personal favorites off the album. It honestly might be one of my favorite shows ever, which says a lot about their performance since some of the music was so new to me.
In my opinion, some of the best songs off this album are “Tally” and “Garbage.”
These are some of my favorites due to my relatability to the lyrics and the amazing vocals of the lead singer, Tyler Joseph.
“Garbage” combines a modern pop beat with relatable and harsh lyrics. The song discusses real-life struggles while maintaining an upbeat vibe that is enjoyable to listen to. The bridge of the song is particularly my favorite part, as it slows things down, and listeners get to hear Joseph open up about a relationship and his struggles in it. It’s an overall fun and relatable song that I always enjoy listening to.
A favorite line of mine from “Breach” that always stands out to me when I hear it is from, again, one of my favorite songs, “Tally.” The line writes, “I figured you were keeping track of every time.” I interpret this line as Joseph being confused as to why a loved one is constantly forgiving him for the hurt he’s done, when he has hurt them many times before. It is the perfect mix of relatable and heartbreaking, which is a common theme on this record.
Overall, I give “Breach” a strong 9 out of 10. It has been climbing my list of favorite Twenty One Pilots albums since its release, and I would not be surprised if it becomes my number one once I know it better. “Breach” is definitely another huge win for the band, and I think both longtime fans and new listeners will find something to love.
