The Mt.Vernon Band of Marauders had an amazing season this year that was sadly cut short at regionals. They started their season with a competition at Brownsburg, where they performed both parts one and two of their show. At this competition, they received second place.
Their next stop on their competition schedule was Greenwood High School. When they got there, they started to unpack, and it started to thunder and lightning and the competition was canceled.
Competition three was at Avon High School, where they performed parts one and two, and also had their ballad on the field. The ballad has a major soloist, Katie Blunk. She is a junior, and she plays the flute. Blunk’s solo is what kicks off and starts the melody of the ballad. The BOM started working hard to get the final part of their show on the field and was able to do that at their next contest at Fishers high school where they placed first against Bloomington South.
They then started ISSMA events, which also meant they were competing with the potential for elimination. They went to Whiteland High School for their ISSMA contest invitational and got gold with distinction in music and general effect.
Their first elimination competition was at Evansville. At this competition, there were eight state finalist bands. BOM did not advance to the semi-state. They lost by .7 of a point.
Their final performance of the show was at the Bands of America Indy Regional. They did not make it to the second performance.
