The 2025 indie game “No, I’m Not Human” has been making a big impact in the gaming community. After spending some time with it, I can definitely see why. This enchanting game utilizes psychological horror while also featuring a strong visual novel-like storytelling element.
This game completely pulled me into a world that constantly blurs the line between human and inhuman, moral and immoral. In this game, players have to test possible inhuman visitors through factors like perfectly white teeth, bloodshot eyes, and dirt beneath their fingernails when deciding to let them in the house. Once one lets the visitors in, the player still has to test them for these signs.
One of the game’s greatest strengths is its multiple, distinct, and sometimes very off-base endings. Rather than forcing players down one predetermined path, “No I’m Not Human” lets the player create their own destiny. Every choice a player makes in the game carries weight, making this game worthy of a few replays. No two playthroughs will be completely the same.
Another element that really stands out is the developers’ chosen progression in the story. Instead of plainly spelling every plot detail or character out, they leave it fairly ambiguous, never fully answering what a visitor is.
This game implores players to piece together the meaning themselves on what is described as real and what is not. That sense of mystery definitely stays with one after their first playthrough, and it leaves you wanting more.
“No, I’m Not Human” is definitely one of the better horror games of this year, both challenging and unsettling at the same time. For those who like games that test the player to think deeply, this is definitely the one for them.
