I have been working at Libby’s Icecream in Fortville since May. Something that I have learned is that sometimes people do not enjoy the regular cup or cone of ice cream, and end up combining unique ice cream flavors and toppings. Here are a few of the combinations that I, as well as some of my coworkers, thought sounded really good.
First up is a strawberry shake with chocolate sauce. This just makes my mouth water at the thought of the taste of chocolate-covered strawberry ice cream. I love chocolate covered strawberries and it is a combination I do not think I would have ever thought of.
Another ice cream order I got was for a vanilla sundae. Usually sundaes come with whip cream, cherry and nuts. This customer wanted none of those. Instead, he ordered peanut butter sauce and banana slices drizzled throughout the ice cream. Bananas and peanut butter was a childhood snack of mine, and it just sounds so refreshing on a hot day. It is a flavorful mix of fruit and sweet.
Speaking of refreshing, one of my coworkers, Pendleton Heights senior Ava Ratliff, suggested, “Lemon custard with strawberry sauce.” Lemon custard has a quite tart flavor, but the thought of strawberry layered on top of it makes it sound so delightful. This sounds like splendid mix of sour and sweet.
Kendall Cagnet, junior at Mount Vernon, favorite order she got was, “Someone asked if I could give them a cookie and put ice cream on it and hot fudge.”
This is not something that is on the menu at Libby’s, but is a great twist on the ice cream sammies, which are available at the store. Ice cream sammies are two cookies with a scoop of ice cream in the middle. Although this is one of the more different types of orders, hot fudge and cookies will always be a thumbs up in my book.
Adriana Worlds, another Mount Vernon junior, has had a few unique orders given to her One of these was, a large cup, which consisted of three to four scoops of ice cream, filled with apple pie and pumpkin ice creams. Apple pie and pumpkin are already delicious flavors by themselves, but together, that is a concert of fall in one’s mouth. These flavors are only available during the fall season, so this combo will be a short-lived one.
Another one she thought sounded good was a vanilla milkshake with sprinkles mixed in it. Although that combination is quite basic, it sounds like liquid frosting one would find on a cupcake.
Anna Jopson, another employee, also had some unique requests from customers. The one that stood out most was a cinnamon and pumpkin milkshake. Like the large cup of apple pie and pumpkin, this milkshake leaves me salivating just thinking about it. Although these flavors will be available for a limited time, this milkshake is probably number one on the list I want to try.
Overall, if a combination sounds good, don’t be afraid to try it out.
