In lots of media, popular people are depicted as tall, attractive and athletic. However, the media can gloss over the why of popularity. Does height really contribute that much to popularity?
Height might play a role in popularity. Yet, it is not the only deciding factor in whether or not one is popular. A better measure of popularity is personality and the people in connection with one. A person can fit the stereotypical popular requirements, but still be unliked. However, being tall still has its social benefits.
While it might not equal popularity, being tall brings more attention to students. Taller figures stick out in a crowd, making it easier for people to see and recognize a specific person. People who are shorter, or even average height are less likely to be picked out of a crowd. That certainly does not lessen popularity or recognition, one just blends into a crowd a little better.
Ultimately, being tall does not mean one is automatically popular. Though height is not a key factor in popularity, it can help make someone more known and recognizable.
