The Indianapolis Colts have started the 2025-2026 season looking as sharp as can be. They dominated the Miami Dolphins in the season opener, winning 33-8. Quarterback Daniel Jones shocked NFL fans and went 22/29 with 272 passing yards. This game made it safe to say that benching Anthony Richardson was the best decision coach Steichen could have made.
The Colts game against the Denver Broncos was another win for the Colts against some good competition. It was a back-and-forth game, and the final score ended up being 29-28. The MVP of this game was by far Jonathon Taylor.
Taylor had 165 rushing yards and 50 receiving yards. Daniel Jones was also near perfect, throwing 23/24 for 316 yards.
With these performances, others might think that the Colts are going to be a top-tier team this season. But if they look deeper, you’ll see that these starting weeks might have been pure luck. I see this Colts team finishing with a 9-8 or 10-7 record.
I predict that the secondary will continue to be injured, the schedule will only get harder, and the Colts will end up blowing it due to their tendency to lose momentum during the mid-late season.
In the playoffs, if they make it, I think they will lose in the first round. It will likely be another year with a mediocre draft pick, probably number 17 or 18, and no significant changes will be made in the offseason.
As a fan, though, I do hope the best for the Colts, and I am very pleased with the start of this season.
