“Tuesdays With Morrie,” written by Mitch Albom, is a book everyone should read. “Tuesdays with Morrie,” portrays a real-life series of conversations between author Mitch Albom and his old college professor, Morrie Schwartz, who was dying from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.
The main message of “Tuesdays with Morrie” is that a meaningful life is found by devoting oneself to others, their community and creating purpose, rather than chasing wealth. This book encourages readers to live in the moment and love others, to forgive themselves and make the most of the time they have.
A great plot point in this book is how Morrie views death. He said, “As long as we can love each other, and remember the feeling of love we had, we can die without really going away.”
The idea of this is that people can live on in the hearts of everyone they have touched and supported. Morrie sees death as a part of life by allowing one to accept and live fully without regretting the things they wish they could have done.
Reading this book could shift many aspects in the reader’s life. After reading this book I know that I would like to do something worthwhile and do something I enjoy.
Mitch Albom, who was once a sports journalist for the Detroit free press, now writes novels and is a host of a radio show. He has also founded many charities such as, SAY Detroit, which focuses on education and health.
I really liked this book because it allows people to see different perspectives and a guide to a happy life.
