Many studies have shown that changing hair color boosts moods by making one more confident. Being more confident encourages people to try new things and be more resilient because they believe in their abilities. A confident demeanor creates a strong first impression on top of having amazing hair.
Not only does having dyed hair make people more noticeable, but it expresses individuality. This allows one to visually project their inner identity as well as creativity.
Having dyed hair could show that they belong to a certain group or how they associate with their values and beliefs. Alternative communities often have bright hair. These people are typically more attuned within themselves. Colored hair could also symbolize a fresh start. While people can not control everything in their lives giving them a sense of empowerment.
Some students from MVHS have opinions on colored hair as well. Kira Denny, a freshman at Mt. Vernon, who does have colored hair, claims for some people it gives out a positive energy and creates an atmosphere of creativity.
Sophia Huntington, who does not have colored hair, explains that at the end of the day everyone is a person and social status remains.
