Sweater weather has arrived and with the spooky season creeping around the corner, fall treats have made their way around as well. There are so many ways to represent Halloween through baking by getting creative with frosting, food dye and sprinkles.
There are many different types of treats: cupcakes, cookies and pies. These are all common sweet treats, but do not forget the special ones that come around specifically during fall time, like s’mores. S’mores are the perfect campfire treat. They are also great for sleepovers and family movie nights. The ingredients required for these delightful treats are marshmallows, chocolate bars and graham crackers.
First, lay out two graham crackers. Next, place a piece of chocolate on top of one of the graham crackers. Most people use a Hershey’s milk chocolate bar, but there are other options to satisfy people’s preference.
The next step is to heat up the marshmallow. Heating up the marshmallow will get it soft and gooey so it can flow into the rest of the s’more better. Find a skewer to place the marshmallow on. After that, place the marshmallow over the campfire, or if making them indoors, then place the marshmallow over the stove or a s’more maker.
Finally, when the marshmallow is baked to personal perfection. Place it gently off the skewer and on top of the piece of chocolate. This step can be the most difficult for people, considering that the marshmallow is super gooey. Once managed to place the marshmallow in the correct spot, place the other graham cracker on top. There is only one more step left to do and that is to enjoy.
When the word treats come to mind, a lot of people might assume the most sugariest treat offered at a birthday party, such as ice cream or cupcakes. Baking isn’t just cupcakes and cookies. Baking includes breakfast items as well. How can breakfast items be a treat? Something that is often incorporated into the fall season is pumpkin spice. With pumpkin spice, bakers can create any autumn treat, including donuts, nuts, muffins and many more. A way to spice up the season more is to add ingredients that go along with the amazing taste of Fall. When making pumpkin muffins, try adding a dash of cinnamon and a handful of chocolate chips. If someone wants to make pumpkin spiced donuts, try adding a honey glaze topped with powdered sugar. There are endless combinations to these dishes with pecans, cinnamon rolls, and even pumpkin bread.
Having a sweet treat can be enjoyable, but let’s not forget about the salty snacks. One way to scare people this Halloween is with pretzels. Pretzels are the main ingredient to almost any salty snack. Want to scare a friend with a spider? No problem. With a few googly eyes and the help of black frosting, nothing is impossible. Another scary creature to create is a Frankenstein’s monster. To create this, first dip the oreo in green icing. Next, take a thin, piping bag to create the face of the monster. Lastly, add candy eyes to finish the look.
It is clear there are many different ways to make autumn theme treats and sweets. Some are salty and some are so sweet that one might need a glass of milk. However, all these treats have one thing in common – they’re made for everyone. This fall season, share these awesome baking talents with loved ones.
