Fall sports are underway, which means the girls’ cross country team is up and running. The cross country team had its first annual cross country camp at Hocking Hills, Ohio.
Head Coach, Lydgia Palmer, said, “We had many great team bonding experiences.” Runners participated in scavenger hunts throughout the woods, a “Love Island” watch party and making homemade pasta.
The team has changed in class size. Seniors Emma Gale and Ella Sinn graduated last year. The senior class of 2026 is made up of runners Amilia Daniels, Hannah Hauser, and Lily Quinn. Many new freshmen have also joined the team.
“We have a group of very positive, hardworking, fun girls. It’s encouraging to have so many new runners. These new members have fit in amazingly and are a fun addition to the team,” Coach Palmer said.
Every new season comes with new goals for the team. Coach Palmer said, “Last year was a rough season, both physically and mentally for a lot of the runners. My hope is that it’s just a positive season.”
Upcoming meets include September 6 IWU Marion Invite at Indiana Wesleyan University and September 13 Eagle Invite at Brown County.
