Mt. Vernon’s Prom Committee hosted this year’s prom themed “Rooftop Rendezvous.” and it was hosted at Regions Tower in downtown Indianapolis.
If attendees brought their ticket with them, parking was completely free. When prom opened, attendees had to go through a line which took them through a metal detector, a checklist to get in and a backdrop where photos were taken. There was then an elevator that attendees took up to the venue.
Junior, Ryleigh Hinkle said, “I felt like it was pretty fun, the venue was nice. The only complaint I have is that it was so cold outside, like bruh. The music was pretty good for the most part.”
There were a variety of drinks inside the venue like water, lemonade, and Shirley Temples. The venue had a nacho bar full of topping options as well as plenty of desserts. Cookies, ice cream and cakes were on display and were easily accessible to all attendees.
Senior Roxas Thao said, “The last dance before paths diverge, a beautiful bittersweet end.”
There was a dance floor with a DJ playing music on the dance floor and on the outside dance floor. The outside was wet and cold, though, as it rained for an hour or two before the event started. However, this did not stop attendees from enjoying their time and even going outside.
Junior, Izzy Barnes said, “My first prom set the standard high, to say the least. The venue was beautiful—the view from the rooftop made for such a unique atmosphere. With so many places to take pictures, I also appreciated how wonderful all the decorations were. The best part, though, had to be the Shirley Temples.”
To the student body, this year’s Prom was a success and a fun event. If the weather were better, it would have been even more enjoyable.
One of the Senior Leaders of the Prom Committee, Alyssa Leonard said, “I feel relieved knowing I don’t have to plan and fundraise for another prom, but also sad because I enjoy advertising and creating things for the committee. My last words are to make the best out of your time in prom committee, and don’t be scared to share and advocate for your ideas.”
The Prom Committee is very proud of the finished product and cannot wait for the next event.
