Rising pop star and songwriter Adrian Lyles released his new single, “King of Everything,” on Jan. 24.
Lyles started his career as both an actor and singer, securing a leading role in the series “High School Musical, the Musical, the Series” and showcasing his singing ability to the world.
His new single, “King of Everything,” at the surface, is an alternative/indie pop song. I found it to be a relaxing and chill listen, with the soft strumming of the guitar at the beginning building into a more powerful, yet soft, end.
I found the track very easy to listen to. It complemented his voice. It was not overpowering and showcased Lyles’ diverse and powerful vocals with ease.
Lyles did an excellent job blending his vocals with the meaningful emotion of the song. The lyrics are very vulnerable and personal. The singer delves into his struggles of finding self-worth and approval from those around him. They also reflect Lyles’s ambition and his constant worry about if he can become worth his perfectionistic standards.
Overall, I think that “King of Everything” is a very vulnerable song that listeners will enjoy if they are looking for an easy and powerful listen.
