WrestleMania 41 took place on April 19 and April 20 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. The two-night event was the biggest event in the WWE calendar, with two sold-out crowds of 61,467 fans.
The first match of night one was between Gunther and Jey Uso for the World Heavyweight Championship. I had a correct prediction that Uso would walk away with the championship. I found this match to be a little boring to watch and it was predictable since it was pretty obvious that Uso would win. It was sweet to see Uso’s brother, Jimmy, come out to celebrate with his brother, the new World Heavyweight Champion.
The next World Tag Team Championship match was between The War Raiders, Erik and Ivar, and The New Day, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods. I was shocked to see The New Day win this match. Not only was this The New Day’s first WrestleMania win, but they are also heels, making them less likely to win without a specific plot purpose. I am interested to see what storylines are going to revolve around the new World Tag Team Champions post-Mania.
The next match was between Jade Cargill and Naomi. I was really excited for this match because the storyline between the two was really interesting. Michael Cole, one of the announcers, joked that this match was for Bianca Belair’s love. My prediction that Cargill would win was correct and I believe that it was the perfect end for the storyline.
The fourth match for the United States Championship was between LA Knight and Jacob Fatu. Fatu dominated a majority of the match for LA Knight to win in the end. My prediction was not correct, but I also did not care about this match at all, so I do not mind.
The next match, between Rey Fenix and El Grande Americano, ended with a shocking win for El Grande Americano. I do not like El Grande Americano and I think all the mystery around him is dumb, but I do love watching luchador matches. It was an enjoyable match with a not so enjoyable outcome.
The next match was between Tiffany Stratton and Charlotte Flair for the WWE Women’s Championship. My prediction on this match was correct and I honestly do not know how Triple H, Stephanie McMahon or WWE as a whole could have justified a win for Flair. Tiffy is one of my favorite WWE champions and I am glad to see her retain her title and put Flair in her place.
The final match and main event of night one was the triple threat match between Roman Reigns, CM Punk and Seth Rollins. This match did not go how I wanted it to go at all. I was very unhappy when I found out that my favorite wrestler, Punk, did not win his first time main eventing Mania. This match was shocking and full of betrayals. Before the match even began, Heyman betrayed Reigns to accompany Punk. Heyman betraying both Punk and Reigns to side with Rollins was not something that I could have ever predicted. Rollins and Heyman left this match as winners and as a newly formed duo. The match was finished when Heyman gave Rollins a chair that he hit Reigns with before pinning him.
The first match of night two was a triple-threat match for the Women’s World Championship. This match was between Iyo Sky, Rhea Ripley and Bianca Belair. When Ripley came out she got one of the biggest pops of the night. The match was won by Sky after she pinned Belair. This is what I predicted for this match because of how the WWE has been pushing Sky since she won the championship on RAW.
The next match was a Sin City Street Fight between Damian Priest and Drew McIntyre. This fight was brutal and both men were out for blood. McIntyre won the match after both men were beaten and bruised.
The next match between Penta, Finn Balor, Dominik Mysterio and Bron Breaker was for the Intercontinental Championship. This match was very interesting to watch, with betrayals and assists from people outside the match. I was shocked when Dominik Mysterio won the championship, making this his first solo championship in WWE.
Randy Orton had a match with an unknown opponent that turned out to be Joe Hendry. Hendry fell to two of Orton’s RKOs, ending in Orton winning the match. This was a pretty obvious outcome since Hendry has not made it into the main franchise.
The next match was between AJ Styles and Logan Paul. Logan Paul left with a win after Karrion Kross came out to offer Styles brass knuckles, which Styles turned down. This distraction caused Styles to lose the match.
The next match was a WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship match between tag team champions Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez and Lyra Valkyria and a mystery partner. Valkyria was originally going to have Bailey as her partner, but Bailey was attacked backstage on Saturday, causing her to step down from the match. The surprise guest was revealed to be Becky Lynch, shocking Morgan and causing Morgan and Rodriguez to lose to the match and lose their championship.
The final match of WrestleMania was Cody Rhodes and John Cena. It was a shocking match full of twists and turns, especially when Travis Scott arrived to pull the ref out of the ring. Cena took this as his opportunity to attack Rhodes and win his 17th championship.
WrestleMania contained many shocking moments for WWE fans. Many people reacted with outrage to some of the results. Many fans are excited to see where the WWE will go from here.
