March is Best Buddies Month. For those unfamiliar with the organization, Best Buddies, according to their website, is “one of the largest nonprofit organizations dedicated to supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.” Best Buddies hosts Friendship Walks – walks to support the Best Buddies programs in schools, workplaces and communities.
Mt. Vernon High School’s Best Buddies chapter will be collecting donations throughout the second week of March during lunch. These donations will go towards the Mt. Vernon High School team at Indiana’s state Friendship Walk on April 27, 2025.
A $1 donation will earn the donor a Best Buddies bracelet. A $5 donation will reward the donor with ice cream on Wednesday, March 12, 2025. The highest donation level, a $10 donation, will reward the donor with a Best Buddies t-shirt.
Additionally, the two classes that raise the most money will win a pizza party for their SRT. The total donation amount has to be over $30 and money collected at lunch will not count towards the pizza party.
According to Mt. Vernon High School’s Best Buddies chapter, this is not a fundraiser. It is a donation drive to support Best Buddies and the Friendship Walk.
If one wants to support Best Buddies, they should make a donation to the cause at lunch or in their SRT.
