Tyler, the Creator, also known as simply Tyler, did it again with his newest album, “Chromakopia,” which was released on October 28 of 2024. This was one of my favorite albums that he has released, with some real bangers on the tracklist. I will review these songs in the order they are on the album, and then rate them.
“St. Chroma,” featuring Daniel Caesar, is one of the best songs on the album. Caesar is amazing and, he amps up this entire album in his other features. This song is an eight out of ten.
“Rah Tah Tah” is the most banging song on the album. It hits hard and got me super hyped to hear the rest of the album. It is also a very catchy song, with the same verses over and over so it is easy to memorize. This song is a ten out of ten.
“Noid” is unbelievably mid. This song was released as a single before the album’s actual release. It sounds like Tyler did not care about this song at all. The best part about this song is the transition from “Rah Tah Tah” to “Noid.” Three out of ten.
“Darling I” is a nice love song calling back to Tyler’s “Igor” album. It has “Teezo Touchdown” on it and is such a beautiful song. I wish it was longer. This song is an eight out of ten.
“Hey Jane” is very disappointing. It is just forgettable. I do not even remember listening to the song, because nothing about it was appealing to me. Two out of ten.
“I Killed You” is a cultural representation of black people’s hair. It hit like a truck, and it came out of nowhere. The shock I felt when I discovered the meaning of the lyrics was truly insane. This proves the genius of Tyler’s storytelling. This song is a seven out of ten.
“Sticky” is in the top three songs of the album, as it has great features, amazing verses and incredible beat transitions from Tyler. The artists in this song are GloRilla, Sexxy Red and Lil Wayne. They all have their own unique style that they bring to the table. This is a ten out of ten song.
“Take Your Mask Off” is a chill-dance-esque song with a nice rhythm. It is nothing crazy, but it is definitely a nice song to showcase more of Daniel Caesar. This song is a six out of ten.
“Tomorrow” is not the best. It is just a boring song, and not really for me. It kind of reminded me of “Hey Jane.” It is just a forgettable song that will not be making the playlist. This song is also a two.
“Thought I Was Dead” is an absolute fire song. It has a hard beat, with a very hype theme. It feels like a comeback from something great. The vinyl version has a Playboi Carti feature too, which is always nice. I can definitely tell this is one of Tyler’s favorite songs on the album. It is one of mine too. This song is a nine out of ten.
“Like Him” is a tragic song, telling the sad story of the new perspective Tyler has on his father. This song came after Tyler found out that he was not just a dead-beat, but pushed out of Tyler’s life by his mother. The song ends with his Mom confirming this.
“Ballon” is a fun song with a new and upcoming artist Doechii. She is a female rapper who matches Tyler’s energy very well. I think she amplified this song by ten. The beat to this song is also extremely goofy, and it is either a love or hate thing. I love it. This is another ten out of ten song.
The last song on the album is “I Hope You Find Your Way Home.” This song is meh. It is nothing crazy, nothing too spectacular. It is a chill song for sure, something I can put in the background for some noise, but not enough for a last song for an album. This song is a five out of ten.
This album is amazing, I am playing at least one of these songs every day. It really shows how Tyler’s style has changed after being an artist for so long. He has made some unique sounds with this, and I cannot wait for more music from him in the distant future. The album overall is an eight out of ten.
