The Wilstem Wildlife Park is a safari and zoo in Paoli, Indiana. The animals live on a large plot of land that visitors can drive around. One section of the park is a drive-through safari while the other is a building with animals that visitors can interact with, such as elephants.
People can pay for special elephant encounters at the park. During this, visitors are able to sit near elephants. They are taught facts about elephants in general and the elephants that are shown during the event. They are also able to wash the elephants according to the advisor’s instructions for an additional fee.The elephants are trained to be around humans and they enjoy being washed by the participants. As well as being cleaned, the instructors give facts and stories about the elephants that they show.There are currently two elephants that are shown in the program. Both of them are Asian elephants that used to be in the circus. In the elephant information show, the worker describes his life with the elephants in the circus and in the park.The fee for the elephant-washing experience is $199 per person. The fee for the informational section is $39 per person. If someone purchases the cleaning experience, they will get to wash the elephants before the educational activity. The washing cost also includes the informational experience as well.
