Ever since Harvey Weinstein was accused of sexual assault, more and more people have come forward with their experiences with sexual misconduct. It reached new heights when it wound up at a government level with Roy Moore. Roy Moore was a Senate candidate accused of sexually molesting an underage girl.

Honestly, hearing cases like this absolutely breaks my heart. What shatters my heart and hope in humanity even more is that people choose to defend people like Moore, including our president, who has recently endorsed him. I’ve overheard and seen multiple conversations with people saying the allegations are fake or even if they are true, that it does not matter.

I am very scared that these sexual allegations, not the situations themselves, are happening very frequently and are just now coming to light. The most recent one that really shook me up was Matt Lauer being accused of sexual misconduct and being fired from his job. Lauer was known as a friendly man that everyone cared for and loved.

But when stuff like this happens, it tells people that anyone can be a sexual predator, no matter who they are or what their status is. Once one person is brave enough to speak about their experience, more and more people start to speak up as well. They are standing up for those who cannot speak about it themselves.

One incredible thing that has occured because is these events is people speaking up. The best thing to do is to speak out and against the people who have abused and hurt others. It can be surreal and horrifying, but it can bring awareness and bring justice to those who have done wrong.
