Pointing out pointers

Claire Dorsch, MVC Managing Editor

The MVHS Lady Marauders Basketball team and MVHS Athletics’ Club honored a handful of extraordinary and legendary women in MV history.

In MVHS history, only 10 female basketball players have scored over 1,000 points in their time with the team, and they were honored on November 17th before the home game against Rushville.

The women honored were: Liz Skinner, Barb Skinner, Jenny Davis, April Kirby, Johna Goff, Alissa Kirby, Cassie Bills, Jessica Privett, Jessica Brown, and Sydney Shelton.

Scoring 1,000 points is a common goal for high school students.

Brandon Ecker, the athletic director at MVHS, said, “These ladies are a testament to the historic success that the Mt. Vernon girls’ basketball program has experienced over the decades.”

As MVHS grows and expands its athletics programs, hopefully more and more women will join this exclusive group of women.
