Lady Marauders stay undefeated

Girls’ soccer season is well underway, and there’s no better way to get the ball rolling like an undefeated record.

The 19-member varsity team is currently 10-0, and on track to be two-time conference champions. Their pristine record includes multiple shutouts against teams from New Castle, Yorktown, Shelbyville, and Greenfield Central.

So, what’s different for the Lady Marauders this season?

Elizabeth Miller, the team’s manager, explains that the addition of new, talented freshmen as starters has helped to bring “a new dynamic” to the team. These newcomers working beside experienced upperclassmen makes for one formidable team.

“Our girls this year are just really strong players, we don’t have any weak members,” said Miller, 12.

The team’s winning streak comes at an unconventional time, since a few of their key starters are currently injured. However, these girls are returning to the field in a matter of weeks, giving the team an even better chance of achieving their goals this season.

“We really want to not only win sectionals this year, but go on to regionals and maybe even win those,” Miller said. “It’s going to be a fun season.”

There are still plenty of games left to catch the Lady Marauders in action, including two at home against Hamilton Southeastern and Delta. Come support the girls as they work towards another championship title.
