Starbucks summer

On May 2, 2017 Starbucks introduced their summer drinks back onto the menu. The summer drinks are the returning S’mores frappuccino, and the new Midnight Mint Mocha frappuccino. I tried them both to compare. A quick disclaimer: Do not drink both of these in the same day as it is quite probable you will feel sick.

The S’mores frappuccino is made with, according to Starbucks.com, “Marshmallow-infused whipped cream, milk chocolate sauce, a creamy blend of vanilla, coffee, milk and ice are finished off with more marshmallowy whipped cream and a graham cracker crumble.”

The whipped cream really does taste like marshmallows. The drink does not taste like coffee, and is pretty sweet. It does taste like a s’more if you get a sip with all of the components. Personally though I think there is not enough chocolate in the drink.

The other drink I tried was the Midnight Mint Mocha. according to Starbucks.com, it is made with “dark cocoa and refreshing mint with our[Starbucks] Frappuccino® Roast Coffee, milk and ice. Next we infuse the blended chocolatey beverage with cooling mint sugar crystals, cut in a layer of whipped cream, then top it with more whipped cream and a dusting of dark cocoa.”

This drink is a rich drink. It tastes like a Thin Mint, but it does feel a bit grainy in the mouth. It has the nice dark chocolate taste. I actually did not like it that much as it is so rich.

Overall I give the S’mores frappuccino a four out of five, and the Midnight Mint Mocha a three out of a five.
