A different kind of cover girl

Covergirl has introduced a new model this month-and she’s wearing a hijab. The newest model’s name is Nura Aria, and she’s the first ever model wearing a hijab to make it on the cover of Covergirl magazines.

Nura is proud of her achievements, and told TODAY Style that, “it’s so amazing, I feel like it’s never really been done before.”
Oscars not quite so white

The Oscar nominees for this year are in- and they are shutting down the #OscarsSoWhite tag from previous years. This year there are six black actors and actresses up for awards, which is an Oscar record.

There are also diverse films being nominated, such as “Moonlight” and “Hidden Figures.” #Equality.
Famous female icon dies

Mary Tyler Moore passed away on January 26, 2017. She is well-known for helping young women pursue their professional dreams on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show.”

During the 1970’s, she was one of the only women who rose up the ranks on television without the help of of a husband or boyfriend.
