On August 22nd, Ghost performed a concert at the TCU Amphitheater in Indianapolis. It was hot and humid while I was waiting in line an hour before the gates opened to get into the venue early, but the entire crowd was happy. Once I got to security, they made everyone pour their water into plastic cups. This was not expected since most other venues before this one didn’t tell concert goers to do this.
When I actually got in, I headed straight to the merch line before it got too crowded. They had four different booths to get merchandise, but the main one had almost everything so that is where most people went. The merchandise was good quality and fairly priced for what they are. Examples of things I bought are one of their tour shirts and a jacket.
After getting the merchandise, I went to the lawn and found a spot facing the front of the stage. The opening band, Amon Amarth, started their act at 7:30 pm. They were an amazing band and had good music. It was more on the “heavier” side by having music more on the metal side which made my ears ring, but it got quiet around 8:30 pm. There was a 30 minute intermission between Amon Amarth and Ghost.
At 9:00 pm, Ghost started their music off with “Imperium,” playing “Kaisarion” right after that. There were a lot of people around. The venue did not allow lawn chairs or blankets, so most people were standing. The venue also did not allow confetti to be blasted during the concert, so they were not able to perform “Mummy Dust,” one of my favorite songs. I planned to go collect confetti after the concert to add to my memories, which I am still sad about.
My top three favorite songs that were played at the concert were “Watcher in the Sky,” “Square Hammer” and “Clavi Con Dio.” I loved all of the songs and sang along to all of them. The theatrics were amazing and matched every song. Even though they couldn’t offer the full experience because of the concert venue’s constrictions, the experience was amazing.
