Being a new student is always a huge change, even for someone who is used to it. New school, new people, new classes – everything that is important to a student is different.
The question is is this only a negative circumstance? Change can be good, especially when it helps someone grow as a person and gives life lessons for the future. Sometimes people get so comfortable in the same place that they forget that the factors of living can change anytime, which is why they need to learn how to maneuver around it. It can be a challenge to say the least, but there are also positive factors. The fact is, it all depends on how one looks at it.
To start, there are many positives to look at as a new student. If someone has moved from another state, they could look forward to a new house. Being able to decorate an area constantly used is always fun and something to do during free times.
Another thing to think about is finding activities in the area that may be fun to do. Look for restaurants with good food, activities like fairs that come during the year or cute parks to hang in.
Finally, look forward to making new friends. Even if a person is not super social, it is still good to look for someone who will hang out and be supportive as there are new situations that are difficult to get used to. There is always something to look forward to even if it is simple yet enjoyable. The best thing to do is be positive throughout the process, which may give the confidence needed to be successful.
For those who are not new, there may be many new people around. The best action to work toward is to be kind and welcoming as it is very stressful having everything familiar be gone all of the sudden. Having a friend in just one class is better than everyone around being strangers. Making friends can be one of the hardest undertakings for a new student, especially in high school when everyone already has their designated friend groups. Talking to a new kid is a great way of welcoming them in and giving them a chance to find their place in school.
As for the new students, there are many tasks yet to do to settle into school. For example, find a club or sport to join. Clubs and sports are good ways of meeting new people and having fun.
Another thing to do is be confident. Dress in a comfortable way without worrying about what others may think. This also includes putting a leading effort into classes, even if it is a subject that is not enjoyed as much as others. There is always a chance to improve. Finally, be friendly and open. Being friendly towards others means people are more likely to be open and trusting.
Overall, new students do not have to worry about ending up in a bad spot just because they are new. There will always be positive factors and negative factors, but in the end if there is a good mindset, good situations and people will come their way. In the end, students, new or not new, should just have fun and look forward to everything they will have the opportunity to do during the school year.
