I am confused. From the first day of the school year, the buses have been lined up in a way that does not make a lot of sense.
During the 2022-2023 school year, the buses were lined up in a long line down the bus parking road. I liked it because as soon as the clock hit 8:15 A.M., students would be released to go into the school. This happened on time every day, no matter if buses were late. This was a very efficient way to ensure quick and easy entry to the school, as only five buses were allowed to drop off at a time. This made sure there was a constant flow of students arriving in the building, so there was no crowd around door 16, the door from which the bus riders enter.
I am not the only person who finds the new system to be a problem, bus driver Amy Lowe said, “I don’t care for it. I think it was easier dropping them off and easier for the kids.”
The school has now made the odd decision to make bus riders wait for every bus to arrive before letting the students out. Not only does this create major crowding at door 16, but if one bus is late, all the bus riders are late. This just does not seem smart at all. Why make the entire bus rider student body late for one or two buses?
I am now getting used to the change and maybe there is a good reason as to why they did this. However, as of right now, I find this the weirdest change of the new school year at Mt. Vernon High School.
