Many people were left disappointed after not getting tickets to Taylor Swift´s The Eras
Tour, but now Swifties may have a second chance at seeing her. On August 3, 2023, Swift announced that she would be adding 15 dates to her North American Tour next fall. Through Twitter and Instagram, Swift announced “Turns out it’s NOT the end of an era Miami, New Orleans, Indy and Toronto: The Eras Tour is coming to you in 2024.¨ These new dates include three nights in Miami, three nights in New Orleans, three nights in Indianapolis and six nights in Toronto. Gracie Abrams, a former opener for The Eras Tour, will be joining Swift as the opening act.
For those not familiar with The Eras Tour, Taylor Swift performs a 44-song setlist of all her past
albums, replacing the original records with the re-records that she has released. Each night, a new surprise song is sung as a way to connect with fans. There is an ensemble of fourteen dancers, as well as a live band of six instrumentalists and four female backing vocalists. It is referred to as her Greatest Hits tour, giving light to some songs that she has never performed live before.
This first tour sparked controversy with its ticket sales. Ticketmaster, a popular
ticket distributing company was faced with an unexpected amount of buyers. The unprecedented amount caused the site to crash and many people lost their spots in their virtual queue. This meant that most fans lost their chance to get tickets to the tour. Special codes were also sent to a select few of the fans, causing many to not even get a chance to enter the virtual queues. This also happened with the second leg, with people speculating that a fewer number of codes were released. This left many fans disappointed, as there has been no indication that there would be a general sale for the fans who did not get codes.
