My Ranking on Every Warlock Subclass in Destiny 2
April 14, 2023
Destiny 2, one of my favorite games of all time, is breathtaking. I love exploring space and grinding. I have been a Warlock for some time now, the wizard-type of class in the game. I have gotten to use all of the subclasses for the Warlock class. I will now rank them from, in my opinion, the most useless and weakest warlocks to the most useful and strongest warlocks in all game modes. I will also rate the fun factor of using them.
The weakest is the Arc type Stormcaller. It does not do a lot of damage, nor does the survivability of the subclass help any warlock. To new players, it is very underwhelming, as its flashy moves do nothing to opponents. It has some useful abilities like chain lightning attacks and speed boosts, but I just prefer other subclasses over this one. It is very fun though, and I like using it sometimes.
The next one is Shadebinder, the stasis subclass. This power harnesses the darkness to freeze enemies. For me it is not so fun to use, and it really does not fit my character, as I am a believer of the light. The abilities have longer cooldowns because it uses the power of the darkness. I think it is cool how guardians are using the darkness. It helps the players see a gray area in the Destiny lore and how there is no good vs evil, but to me it only made a good plotline and I do not see myself using it in the future.
Voidwalker of the void warlock subclass is the next one. This one is really good and super fun to use. It is the first subclass players obtain when starting “New Light,” and lots of players stick with this subclass. It has a cool teleport ability named Blink, which teleports players quite a distance in a quick transition. Although it is tricky to use at first-as it is annoying to play with-after about 50 hours in the game I got the hang of it. Its default grenade pulls combatants in a black hole and slowly damages them over time. It has two supers, but my favorite one is Nova Bomb. The adrenaline rush when I yeat a giant black hole in a horde of enemies is insane. It never gets old, and I can see myself going back to being a Voidwalker.
My second favorite is Broodweavers of strand. Strand released with the new expansion, “Destiny 2: Lightfall.” It is overpowered. Very overpowered. I am surprised something like this power is even allowed in the Crucible, a PvP gamemode. Everything players do with strand results in something exploding. The grenade is switched with a grapple melee attack and after hitting this attack, the enemy and the enemies around them blow up. The warlock’s melee attack has kunai-like throwing darts. On impact, they blow up. That’s not even mentioning the killer minions known as threadlings. Most of every action of strand also results in making threadlings. These little guys go after the enemies. This is not my favorite subclass, but it is definitely the strongest so far. Probably will be nerfed soon.
My favorite subclass in the game has to be Dawnblades. I used it in Destiny 1, and it is very nostalgic to use. It is still very fun and players can make great builds with this subclass with different exotic weapons and armor. The only downside to Dawnblades is the “Well of Radiance.” It is amazing, do not get me wrong, but everyone expects players to have it as a Warlock, as it is heals, buffs damage, and gives damage resistance. This makes some parts of the game less fun when being a warlock. This subclass is good nonetheless.
I really do love all of these classes, though. They all have their ups and downs, but are fun. When it comes to Destiny 2, Warlocks reign supreme.
