Sunrise Bakery
April 6, 2023
Over the weekend I went to Sunrise Bakery and tried many different donuts and baked goods. Usually when I visit, I go for a blueberry donut, but I decided to try some different flavors. I am glad I did.
The first donut I tried was their Persian donut. I thought that this donut tasted like a cinnamon honey bun. Overall, this was a great choice, I recommend this donut for others looking for the classic glaze with a little bit of extra flavor.
Another donut I had the pleasure of eating was the blueberry flavor. If I could only eat one breakfast food for the rest of my life, I would definitely pick this donut. It is moist and flavourful, but also not too sweet. This donut is an easy 10/10.
The third donut I ate was strawberry. Before I started going to Sunrise I would go to Dunkin and eat their strawberry donut. The strawberry donut tastes just like how I imagine the “Homer Simpon” donut to taste and look like.
After that, I tried the glaze donut. There is not really much to say here, it was just like any other glazed donut. The only criticism I have is that I wish this donut was hot. Nothing beats a hot glazed donut.
The last and probably most interesting baked good I tried was not actually a donut at all; it was a cake. I tried a King Cake, a popular dish for the holiday Mardi Gras. I had never actually eaten one before. The first thing I noticed was that Sunrise’s King Cake was not very sweet, unlike the rest of the donuts.
The cake was made out of a croissant and was sweetened up a tad by the frosting. Overall, I liked this cake but I would not reach for it again, mainly because I do not like the texture of sprinkles and there were a lot of them.
Overall, I really enjoyed my experience here thanks to the homey environment and the friendly staff, and would definitely recommend a visit to anyone looking for some delicious donuts.
