What To Expect This Winter
November 17, 2021
These past few winters have been especially unique. With global warming increasing, Indiana’s chances of getting a decent amount of snow, or just a normal winter, has been steadily decreasing. The past couple of years have been on the warmer side of winter, however this previous winter shocked many. This previous winter Hoosiers saw a normal amount of snowfall, however, Texas suffered a huge blizzard in February. By the end of the catastrophic event, the blizzard left millions of people without running water and power, and a total of 210 dead. As for Indiana, this previous April, Indiana received two inches of snowfall on April 20th, breaking many records for the latest snowfall in the season.
The Farmers Almanac has stated that this winter will be colder and drier than usual. The Farmers Almanac also says to expect the coldest temperatures in mid-to-late November. Indiana is expected to get normal snowfall from December through February. Indiana can expect to get the most amounts of snowfall in late November, the entirety of December, and early January.
There are still plenty of opportunities to enjoy the beautiful snowfall this winter season. However, when going out to play in the snow make sure to wear warm coats, hats, and gloves. Make sure to take extra precautions when putting up Christmas lights, Indiana is heading for an icy winter.
