“Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” Review
September 24, 2021
“Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” is Marvel’s newest installment to their heroic franchise. This is one of the best films of 2021. The director of this movie is Destin Daniel Cretton. It made $75.3 million in the box office in the first three days of the theatrical release. This movie is rated PG-13, as most Marvel movies are, and is an amazing success.
This movie continues the Marvel universe with a new origin story of Shang Chi. “Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” shows cool effects and amazing artistic Asian culture. With epic music and sounds, this masterpiece does not stray away from the action either. With the fight scenes, the actors went through months of training so they could film them actually fighting.
On the website, In an interview on Set, Simu Liu, the one portraying Shang Chi, explained the fight styles in the movie. “Shang-Chi is at its core a Marvel movie, that comes with a promise of action and a certain promise to the quality of the sequences we’re about to deliver.”
Liu goes on to say that, “We’re going to incorporate a lot of different styles of martial arts. Tai chi, which is very, very flowy. Another one is Wing Chun, which is a bit more combative, and then looking at different regional styles that kind of fill this mosaic of how this character moves.”
There are also many easter eggs and references to other Marvel movies. For example, fans might want to pay close attention to the cage fight scenes. It has a few things they may notice from past Marvel films. It really is just a theatrical roller coaster.
The ending of the movie will also leave the audience with tears. It is easy to understand the characters and that is what I like most about this movie. It is culture and a new story being shown, but I could still keep up and enjoy the show.
I give this movie a 9 out of 10. It was close to a perfect Marvel movie. It was definitely better than most movies that came out this year. I hope to see Shang Chi in future Marvel movies. Great acting and overall a banger of a film. Definitely go see it. It is worth the time and money.
