Top 10 Albums of 2019
February 16, 2020
2019 was a great year for music. Now that the year is over, here is my ranking of the top 10 albums of 2019.
- Revenge of the Dreamers III-Dreamville
Starting off the list at number 10, is the compilation album from J. Cole’s record label
Dreamville. Filled with absolute bangers, if you wanna feel hyped I recommend listening
to this album.
Best Song: “Sacrifices”
- Graffiti-Roy Blair
At number 9 is an EP by up and coming artist Roy Blair. This would be higher on the list
but it is really short being an EP.
Best Song: “Fantazia”
- Thank U, Next-Ariana Grande
Ariana Grande released my favorite pop album of the year with “Thank U, Next.”
Every song is a bop and the production on this is incredible.
Best Song: “Ghostin’”
- Jesus is King-Kanye West
After promising an album that would come out late 2019, Kanye changed his entire
style and focused on making Christian music. The production on this is incredible, this is
not Kanye’s best, but it is still an enjoyable listen.
Best Song: “Use This Gospel”
- Bandana-
The second studio album from rapper Freddie Gibbs and producer Madlib is an
incredible jazz-rap album. Madlib’s incredible production and Freddie Gibbs’s
outstanding flow make for an extremely enjoyable listen.
Best song: “Palmolive”
- i,i- Bon Iver
Folk powerhouse Bon Iver returns with an album with incredible production and singer
Justin Vernon’s falsetto is perfect with the production.
Best song: “Hey Ma”
- Let The Sun Talk-Mavi
Mavi’s first studio album is one of the best of the years. Filled with insanely chill beats
and Mavi’s monotone flow makes it an album that someone like me can lay down and
just listen to. This is easily the most chill album of the year.
Best Song: “Self Love”
- Ginger- Brockhampton
American Boyband Brockhampton returns with their 5th studio album. The album is full
of both bangers and sad songs. Overall it’s a good listen if you are trying to just listen to
fun music.
Best Song: “Sugar”
- Arizona Baby- Kevin Abstract
Brockhampton frontman, Kevin Abstract, release overshadowed his own bands release
this year. Taking on themes of being a gay black man in America, Arizona Baby is a
great listen filled with high energy songs to slow melancholic ballads it is a great album.
Best Song: “Peach”
1 IGOR- Tyler, the Creator
Tyler, the Creator has the best album of 2019. It’s nearly impossible to top a
masterpiece, but Tyler did it as he somehow made a better album than 2017’s “Flower
Boy”. The concept album focuses on a love triangle between Tyler and the man he is in
love with and the man’s girlfriend. The production is one of the best of all time and
Tyler’s lyrics can strike a chord with anyone lost in love.
Best Song: “GONE, GONE/ THANK YOU.”
